Bio

Mujinga is a Swiss athlete who was born in Bern on 17 June 1992. Her father is of Congolese descent and her mother is Swiss, giving Mujinga a rich cultural background that she is very proud of. Mujinga followed the lead of her older sister Kaluanda by taking up athletics at STB Leichtathletik. She soon attracted attention thanks to her exceptional speed and competing barefooted.

Mujinga quickly became one of the best sprinters in the country.

Mujinga first attracted the attention of the public in 2014, when she participated in the European Athletics Championships in Zurich. She broke the Swiss records for the 100 and 200 metres several times, achieving unexpected fourth and fifth-place finishes. It was not only her performances as her dazzling smile that won the hearts of the Swiss public.

In 2016, Mujinga claimed her first international medal by taking third place at the European Championships in Amsterdam. The following year she took again the bronze medal at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade after one of her rivals was disqualified.

In 2018, following a hectic winter and several changes to her entourage, Mujinga became the first Swiss sprinter to win a bronze medal at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Birmingham. She also entered the list of the all-time top five European athletes over 60 metres after clocking a record time of 7.03 seconds at the Swiss Indoor Championships in Magglingen.
